ART CLASS!
So my wonderful Mom decided to give me an early birthday present and put me into painting lessons. I am thrilled! I have wished for a long time that I could take a class to teach me the techniques and skills that would take me years to figure out on my own. A woman she works with is taking private lessons from someone in town so Mom got her number and I signed up.
My first class was last Tuesday. It went really well, I learned a lot and she said that I had a natural talent so of course I was flattered!
Today was my second class and it ended up being a private class because the other girl was out of town. Well I was able to talk a lot with my teacher and had a wonderful time. She even offered to be my mentor if I want to start painting murals for people. She said she would just come and give me guidence when I need it for $35.00 an hour (which is her private lesson cost) I thought that was a cool idea and thanked her for the offer. Then our conversation moved on to other art subjects and she mentioned going over seas with Dale Parsons for a big art convention. I thought oh wow Dale Parsons that's a really cool experience I wonder how they choose someone to do that....but the conversation went on to other things. Needless to say I really enjoyed my class.
Later tonight when I was talking to one of the women I teach with in Young Woman's I mentioned my teachers name "Gayla Prince" and her eyes widened and she said, "She painted The Ten Virgins!" I haven't ever seen it so I didn't know what she was talking about. So when I got home tonight I Googled her..... http://gaylaprince.com I have seen a few of Gayla's paintings in the studio where she holds our classes and they are beautiful. So I knew Gayla was talented but I didn't know she was FAMOUS! Check out her work and then check out her bio.
I am seriously floored that I am working with her and that it happened just the way it did. I was excited just to take a painting class before I knew who she was but now I am ECSTATIC! I will keep you posted and I will start taking my camera so that I can show you my progress.
